Jewels (Osell) Sowers - President, Co-Treasurer

Jewels has served on the board of the Cemetery since 2014 and has been President since May 2016. Jewels has lived in De Pere on the west side of the Fox River or the east side for over 60 years. She attended West De Pere High School and St. Norbert College/ROTC. She is married to Tim a retired Police Officer of De Pere and has 2 married children and 2 grandchildren.

Jewels has had many unique and different jobs in her life, a favorite being a deckhand for her father on tugboats and the River Queen in De Pere. She has been an ASID, State Licensed Interior Designer/Project Manager for over 40 years. She has sat on several national association boards as Director, VP, and other various leadership positions from 1986 – present and created a broad knowledge and understanding of nonprofit and trade associations and fund raising. She also serves in the US Coast Guard as an Auxiliarist.

She has always thought the Cemetery to be a “gem” in the city of De Pere and cornerstone to Fox River Drive. As a child growing up on the river, she thought this would be a beautiful resting place one day. Her father Capt. Liel Osell and family wanted to be buried there and with his passing and burial there, as we all do, became more aware of a Cemetery preservation. She is very excited to continue the vision of restoring the beauty of the cemetery, preservation of the grounds and history. She has been actively involved obtaining community help in all aspects of the Cemetery and looks forward to the future historical improvements of the cemetery.
