Jill Oudenhoven-Klasen - Co-Historian

Jill has been on the board since 2019 but had been volunteering at the cemetery in many capacities prior. She was born in Oshkosh, grew up in Green Bay but has lived in the De Pere area for almost 35 years. She is married to John Klasen and has two adult children and 3 granddaughters.

She became interested in the Greenwood Cemetery while taking volunteer pictures of headstones for others researching their own families. Her own love of genealogy and to record her family legacy for generations to come along with the peaceful surroundings, beautiful river view, deep rich history of this cemetery and that of De Pere made it an easy decision for her and John, along with her sister, Julie and her husband Randy to purchase adjoining lots in the cemetery. With her genealogy background and years of working in the administrative field, she has been a great asset in researching and recording all those buried and Veterans in the De Pere Greenwood Cemetery. Some of De Pere’s first pioneers lay at rest in the cemetery and their history is just waiting to be retold; but there are many others who may have not been as influential in De Pere and the surrounding communities, but their life stories are just as important.

Her motto is: “Gone, but not forgotten” and she looks forward to preserving the records and history of all those buried at De Pere Greenwood cemetery for future generations to come.
